Vintage 1950s hand-carved wooden ceremonial mask from Benin; 17" tall x 15" wide x 6" deep. The mask was used in a religious ceremony then struck to release the spirit when the ritual was completed. The can see the repair where the mask was intentionally cracked. One of the coolest masks we have. Hand-carved from local hardwood, and shows some signs of age (it is over 50 years old).
